Groundhog Betrayal!

Folks have been calling for the head of Punxsutawney Phil due to is his erroneous prediction of an early spring. Henry contributed his part (don’t ask) but as usual, the dogs at Brookdale Park Dog Park don’t seem to mind. Here are some pics of our friends on a Sunday morning/afternoon, enjoying the brisk wind and sunshine while we humans rub our hands together and imagine 70 degree days and daffodils.

When Irish Dogs Are Smiling

StPatrick'sDayWhen I was searching the Web for pictures of Irish dogs for my St. Patrick’s Day post, I came across the folks at  Native Dogs of Ireland  who were gracious enough to allow me to re-post some of their lovely photographs. The group attends Irish-themed events in their home state of Minnesota. Their mission, in part, is to

educate and share our love of the breed’s native to Ireland and all their rich history and charm, and to share our stories and knowledge of owning and raising the dogs of our choice.

According to their website, there are currently eight recognized breeds from Ireland: The Irish Terrier, The Glen of Imaal Terrier, The Kerry Blue, The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, The Red Irish Setter, the Red & White Irish Setter, Irish Water Spaniel and lastly, the Dog of Kings, the Irish Wolfhound.

The Wolfhound and the Red Irish Setter are easy enough to identify, but how well can you recognize the other breeds?

But did you know that Mollie’s parents, Anne and Ray King own Irish&More at 16 Church Street in downtown Montclair? The stylish green collar Mollie is sporting in honor of St. Patrick’s day is just one of the Irish themed items the shop offers.

Anne’s beautiful collection of fine Irish goods includes fine Celtic jewelry, classic Irish woolens, Guinness bar ware, St. Paddy’s Tees and the best snack of all—Cadbury chocolates.

You can reach Anne by phone at 973-744-5521 or by email infoirishandmore@aol.com. She’s there to help you with directions to Irish & More, to offer gift advice,or to chat about all things Irish… and more!
