GPS for pooches: An idea whose time has come?

He’s off the leash!

We received an email from some friends who want to pass along a message about dog safety.  Alyssa wrote that her daughter Natalie is doing a school project on this subject and wants to alert our readers to the concept of GPS collars for dogs.  You can follow the link to read about some of the reasons you might want to consider this option; the page also has a host of helpful links on the topic.

We remember the days when Henry thought it was fun to escape the yard and get chased around the neighborhood while Mom had a heart attack. It’s scary when your pet slips the leash or bolts from the yard.

While we all do our best to keep our pets safe; here’s one bit of advice that bears repeating:

Never bring your dog to a fireworks celebration!

Enjoy the fireworks but leave the dog at home.

Every summer dog owners are warned about the dangers of bringing dogs to the fireworks and inevitably we read about lost or missing dogs in the paper or on the Internet following these celebrations. Dogs and fireworks do not mix!

Thanks to Alyssa and Nathalie for bringing this topic to our attention.
